With schools closed, social distancing in force and a total lockdown on the cards, many businesses are looking at making home working available to their employees. If that sounds familiar, then this is the article for you – give us a call on 01207 234637 to find out how we can help.
As you will no doubt be aware, coronavirus has spread across the UK at an alarming rate – at the time of writing there were 1,950 confirmed cases, with the true number expected to be considerably higher.
Health officials have now moved towards the second phase of their response to the outbreak – delay – which involves increasing action to slow the spread of the virus and ‘flatten the curve’. People are being encouraged to distance themselves socially, cutting down on the number of people they come into contact with, while the most vulnerable are urged to self-isolate.
As such, those that can work from home are advised to do so, and that is where we can help. Those businesses and employees unaccustomed to working from home may not have the necessary remote technology in place to enable this, but we can offer this on a temporary basis.
Clients who currently use our cloud platform can already work anywhere, but customers who don’t might not necessarily have the right facilities to allow their staff to work from home.
For these customers, who are encouraging social distancing among their staff, we can provide with temporary access via our internal systems to help them during a quarantine.
It’s not a long-term solution but it is secure and reliable, and will allow businesses to keep things ticking over should working from home become necessary.
Here at Concept IT, the health and welfare of our team and our clients is of utmost importance and, as our team frequently visit client sites, we are taking additional precautions to minimise the risk of spreading the virus.
We have asked all staff to notify us before coming to work if they experience any COVID-19 symptoms, if they have been in contact with anyone experiencing symptoms or who has been asked to self-isolate. We are evaluating this on a case-by-case basis and may ask staff to work remotely or take sick-leave.
We have increased our cleaning routines to include twice daily disinfection of all communal surfaces and have also advised the team on the personal hygiene measures they should be taking while visiting other premises.
Any equipment brought into the office will be cleaned with a disinfectant solution before being serviced, along with any equipment ready to be despatched or returned.
Ahead of all site visits, we will call ahead to ask if any staff are ill or have been asked to self-isolate. In that instance we will endeavour to conduct work remotely rather than on-site; we have also asked our staff to leave premises immediately where people appear to be ill.
Should the outbreak hit our region severely, we may find that we have to cancel all meetings and visits, other than those classed as business critical emergencies. However, we sincerely hope that this will not be necessary.
We have plans in place to allow everyone at Concept to work remotely without impacting service levels and we trust that the measures we have put in place will reduce any potential effect.
