“2nd Line Support” at Concept IT means you’ll play a key role in resolving server and infrastructure technical issues for Cloud technologies, including Microsoft 365.
The Role – Cloud Support Engineer / IT Support Engineer (2nd Line Support)
Based at our Head Office in Tanfield Lea (County Durham), as a Cloud Support Engineer / IT Support Engineer you’ll take on a varied role where no two days will be the same.
You’ll be using the latest support tools, remote monitoring, management, and automation tools to provide support via telephone with remote / internet collaboration, but you will occasionally be required to travel to client sites across North East England to provide deskside support.
Although you’ll mostly focus on supporting Microsoft 365 and related Cloud technologies, you’ll still be involved with traditional on-site systems (Windows Server, Active Directory, backup services, etc.)
Other duties will include:
- Logging client support requests and ensuring call backs are made
- Providing expertise for technologies including desktop and server environments, network infrastructure and vendor specific hardware and software
- Assisting with new system installations both in our Tech Centre and at client sites
- Taking ownership of escalated issues from 1st Line Support colleagues, following through to completion

- Salary in the region of £25,000 to £30,000 with the starting level dependent on experience

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working 39 hours per week 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Thursday, with a 4:30pm finish on Fridays. You’ll be part of an on-call rota (typically one to two calls per month), and there will be very occasional weekend work (typically one weekend every two to three months) required to meet business needs.
Our Requirements – Cloud Support Engineer / IT Support Engineer (2nd Line Support)
- Experience gained working in a 2nd or 3rd Line IT Support role, either in an IT department as part of a wider organisation or as part of an MSP (external managed service provider)
- Experience gained working with Microsoft Windows and Server Support, including Microsoft 365 and Azure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly approach
- Full UK driving licence
Although not essential, having Microsoft 365 and / or Azure certifications is highly advantageous, as is experience gained working with Amazon AWS and having relevant AWS certifications.
